The 6SL3520-1XH60-3AB0 is the entry-level power variant of the SINAMICS G115D wall-mounted distributed drive at 0.37 kW, 2.6 A output, in the compact FSA frame. The AB0 suffix adds integrated brake control — a built-in braking chopper that allows connection of an external braking resistor for applications where the motor must decelerate or hold position against an overhauling load.

Why specify brake control on a 0.37 kW drive?

The AB0 variant includes the braking chopper circuitry that the standard AA0 (hardwired I/O) and AF0 (PROFINET) variants omit. On a small conveyor section with a decline or a frequent start-stop cycle, the motor regenerates energy back into the DC link during deceleration. Without a braking chopper, the drive can only ride through this with its internal capacitors — enough for occasional stops, not for cyclic braking duty. The AB0 lets you connect a 200 Ω minimum external braking resistor (350 Ω, 10 W continuous built-in on FSA frame) to dissipate that regenerated energy as heat, preventing DC-link overvoltage faults that would stop the line.

FSA — fanless and compact

At 380 mm wide and fanless, the FSA frame relies entirely on natural convection through its finned aluminum housing. No fan means no moving parts to maintain, no air filter to replace, and silent operation — valuable on conveyor lines running in noise-sensitive environments. The trade-off is a 24 V DC consumption of approximately 250 mA, roughly half the draw of a fan-cooled FSB or FSC variant, which reduces the sizing requirement on the control power supply.
