What if the section needs 4 kW but no network?

Power demand and network demand rarely grow at the same rate. A section can legitimately need 10.2 A continuous (20.4 A for 3 s at 200% overload) while its control stays on plain terminals - wired start, stop, direction and an analog setpoint, the way a hundred older machines are still wired. The I/O Control variant is exactly that configuration: the fan-cooled 4 kW FSB drive, 425x180x169 mm, IP65/66, with no fieldbus port to pay for. Stop energy goes into the integrated 175 ohm braking resistor - 10 W continuous, 100 W peak - so the section decelerates on its own.

How much commissioning does an I/O Control drive need?

Because there is no network, commissioning stays local: wire the terminals, set the basic parameters, run. No network address, no bus telegram configuration, no switch in the cabinet, no PROFINET engineering hours charged to the section. If the machine is later pulled onto a network, the AF0 variant of the same 4 kW FSB hardware carries PROFINET, PROFIsafe and EtherNet/IP - the terminal-only wiring stays behind, and the swap is one drive.
