The NEX316 from Radix Electrosystems is an economy PID temperature controller in 1/16 DIN format (48 × 48 mm). Its dual-row LED display shows the process value on the upper 13.2 mm red readout and the setpoint or parameter value on the lower 9.9 mm green readout. Input type — thermocouple or RTD — is selected via the front keypad rather than internal DIP switches, reducing setup time and eliminating the need to open the controller housing during commissioning.

What control functions does the NEX316 offer?

The controller supports PID with autotuning, ON/OFF control, and time-proportional output. PID parameters are fully adjustable: proportional band from 1 to 999 (0–100% of span), integral time from 0.1 to 99.9 minutes (or off), derivative time from 0.1 to 99.9 minutes (or off), and cycle time from 1 to 99 seconds. The relay output logic is configurable for heating, cooling, high alarm, or low alarm action. Additional programmable parameters include °C/°F selection, digital input filter, manual reset, bias adjustment (±99 units), and setpoint lock to prevent unauthorized changes.

What output and power supply options are available?

The standard NEX316 configuration (order code 2807 1211) provides one electromechanical relay output rated 7 A at 250 V AC (NO-C-NC) and one SSR drive output at 12 V DC for direct connection to solid-state relays. A relay-only variant (order code 2807 1111) is also available. Power supply options cover 85–265 V AC via built-in SMPS or 20–30 V AC/DC for low-voltage installations. Input-to-output isolation is rated at 1500 V AC rms. The ABS housing meets UL94V-0 flame retardancy, with an optional IP66/NEMA 4X front protection kit available for washdown environments.
