Why does a panel need a universal input instead of one transmitter per signal?

Every different signal in a panel — voltage, current, resistance, temperature — used to mean a different spare on the shelf and a different module to wire. The TRANSCONT CR carries at least one universal input with better than 15-bit resolution, so a single spare covers the range of signals a machine builder or plant meets in practice; an optional second input adds two-wire measurement, potentiometer scaling and temperature compensation. The universal 14-bit output acts as a combined current or voltage output, and one or two relay outputs handle limit values, monitoring and control.

What does a 100 ms cycle change in a fast process?

Signal converters are usually the slow link in a loop, but the TRANSCONT CR runs its whole conversion cycle in 100 ms — fast enough for speed control, flow measurement and event counting, not just slow temperature trends. Input and output are galvanically isolated from each other and from the supply and bus, so a fault on one channel cannot travel into the controller. Mounted transmitters also talk directly to each other on the rail, and a bus coupler puts the whole group on RS-485 / Modbus RTU to the PLC, with the dual-line LC display and three-key operation keeping local configuration out of the laptop.
