FIPFG gasketing and potting live or die by path control: the mixing head must follow a groove at constant speed, through corners, without stretching the bead at the radius. The Sonderhoff LR-HD is the high-dynamic answer - a three-axis CNC linear robot on rack-and-pinion drives that reaches 58 m/min with 10 m/s2 of acceleration, holding repetition accuracy of plus/minus 0.08 mm and deviating only plus/minus 0.2 mm across a full 2 m of travel.

Why a linear robot instead of a six-axis arm?

Henkel Sonderhoff supplies both, and the comparison is their own: over two metres of contour, the CNC linear robot simply deviates less than an articulated arm, which is why long, fast gasket paths with abrupt direction changes belong on the LR-HD. The 20 kg head capacity carries the MK-series mixing heads over strokes from 1000 to 3000 mm in X, with Y and Z options, and the welded steel base anchors the geometry so repeatability does not drift with the season.

Island cell or inline system?

Both routes are standard Sonderhoff practice: the LR-HD integrates with the DM 50x mixing and dosing systems on shuttle tables for semi-automatic islands, or inline with six-axis robots from ABB and Kuka where parts must be flipped and dosed on several faces. Programming runs by dialog menu on the MP 2 Mobile Panel, and the IPC inside the dosing unit owns the traverse control - one interface for material, motion and process.
