Product Description

Conventional Cartesian axes hit a wall around 650 mm of stroke: ball-screw whirling speed forces the controller to derate velocity exactly where travel times get painful. The Yamaha NXY removes the ceiling by inverting the mechanism - a hollow-shaft servo motor spins the ball nut directly, so the screw never whirls and full 1200 mm/s speed holds across strokes out to 2000 mm.

What changes when speed survives the stroke?

Cycle time stops being a compromise between reach and rate. Assembly, insertion, extraction, screwdriving, dispensing and bonding cells keep a single axis where layouts used to split work between two stations, and the slider-built motor trims dead space at stroke ends so the envelope stays compact on long frames. Repeatability of plus/minus 0.01 mm on a resolver-based positioning system keeps the speed honest for electronics and precision mechanical parts.

Single arm or double-Y carriers?

The NXY-W doubles the Y axes as standard - four or six axes - so two carriers work one frame independently or in coordination, halving station count in high-mix assembly. Within the Yamaha Cartesian lineup the NXY sits beside the compact PXYx and the 40 to 50 kg HXYx and HXYLx conveyance types, letting a plant standardise one programming environment across payload classes. In Europe the range is distributed by New-Mat Mecatronics, the automation specialist listing it on DirectIndustry.
