The Nordson Concert™ series is a family of multi-channel temperature control units designed to increase the capacity and flexibility of hot melt adhesive melters. By adding a Concert controller, processors can expand a single melter to independently serve up to five distinct heating channels—each with its own setpoint and alarm limits—enabling one melter to supply multiple coating guns, modules, or production lines simultaneously.

How Multi-Channel Control Expands Production

• Independent Zone Regulation: Up to five channels, each comprising a pair of heating zones (hose and gun), are individually configurable with upper and lower temperature limits. This allows different adhesive formulations or application temperatures to run from a single melter.
• Standby Mode: When a production lane pauses, the corresponding heating channel can be placed in standby. The controller reduces zone temperature to a preset holding level, minimizing thermal degradation and char formation in the adhesive without requiring a full shutdown.
• Optix™ Touch Screen Interface: All channels are set up and monitored through a single color LCD touch screen. Real-time temperature readings, alarm status, and data-logging graphs are displayed at a glance, replacing the need for multiple single-loop PID displays.

Temperature Control Performance

• Stable Regulation: ±1°C control stability across the full operating range ensures consistent adhesive viscosity at the point of application, a critical factor for bond strength in nonwoven and packaging laminations.
• Sensor Flexibility: Accepts both Nickel 120 Ohm RTD and Platinum 100 Ohm RTD sensors, offering compatibility with existing Nordson installations and industry-standard probes.
• Heating Capacity per Channel: Varies from 1,200 W to 4,000 W per channel depending on the configuration, supporting both light-duty assembly lines and high-throughput nonwoven operations.

Installation & Integration

• Electrical Supply: Configurable for 200/240 VAC single-phase, 240 VAC three-phase Delta, or 400/230 VAC three-phase Wye mains, covering the majority of industrial plants globally.
• I/O Capability: 4 digital inputs and 3 relay outputs allow integration with upstream machine interlocks, alarm beacons, and parent machine PLCs.
• Compact Footprint: Basic version weighs approximately 13.6 kg (30 lbs); expanded version approximately 26 kg (80 lbs). Designed for mounting adjacent to the melter cabinet.
• Ingress Protection: IP33 rating protects against tools and wires greater than 2.5 mm and spraying water up to 60° from vertical, suitable for typical manufacturing environments.
