The Optris CTlaser 1M / 2M infrared temperature sensor is designed for measuring the temperature of metals, secondary metal processing, and ceramic materials. It has integrated dual laser aiming for accurate alignment and focal positioning of the sensor. The sensor is available in six different temperature ranges from 482 to 3992°F (250 to 2200°C), and can function in temperatures up to 185°F (85°C) without additional cooling .

Selectable analog outputs and multiple digital interfaces offer high variability. The sensor features peak hold, valley hold, average, and an extended hold function with threshold and hysteresis, all field configurable with the USB programming kit. Field selectable analog output options include 0/4-20mA, 0-5V, 0-10V, Type K or J thermocouples, and alarm .

Optical resolution options are 150:1 or 300:1, allowing measurement of very small targets at long distances. The spectral ranges are 1μm (1M) and 1.6μm (2M). Response time is 1ms. Emissivity is adjustable from 0.1 to 1.1 .

Optional plug-in interfaces include USB, RS485, RS232, 2 optically isolated relay outputs, CAN-Bus, Profibus DP, and Ethernet. The Optris Compact Connect temperature analysis software is available as a free download. The sensor operates on 8-36 VDC power supply with 100mA max current draw and is IP65 NEMA-4 rated, with front mountable design suitable for vacuum processes up to 10–3mbar .
