The Optris CTex infrared temperature sensor is a two-piece measuring system with active electronics for evaluation and an IR sensing head that can be installed as a passive element in hazardous areas. It is encased in aluminum housing with mounting appliances for two zener barriers and CT electronics .

Selectable analog outputs and multiple digital interfaces offer high variability. Field selectable analog outputs options include 0/4-20mA, 0-10 V, and type K or J thermocouples. The sensor features peak hold, valley hold, average, and an extended hold function with threshold and hysteresis. It also includes a programmable functional input for external emissivity setting, ambient temperature compensation, and reset of hold functions .

The sensor measures non-metallic surfaces with a temperature range of -58 to 1787°F. It has an 8 to 14µm spectral range, 150ms response time, and optical resolution options of 2:1, 15:1, or 22:1. Accuracy is ±1% or ±1.8°F, with repeatability of ±0.5% or ±0.9°F. The electronics can operate in ambient temperatures up to 356°F (standard) or 482°F (high temperature option) .

The Optris Compact Connect temperature analysis software is available as a free download. The sensor operates on 8-36 VDC power supply with 100mA max current draw, is IP65 NEMA-4 rated, and has UL E81680V1S3 approval .
