How does the multiport selector differ from a standard on/off ball valve?

A conventional miniature ball valve provides two positions: open and closed. The MBV.P. multiport selector adds routing intelligence — a single control action switches the active flow path among multiple ports. This eliminates the need for multiple individual shutoff valves and complex manifold assemblies in applications such as analytical instrument calibration, where a single gas source must be sequentially directed to multiple measurement channels.

How does the port selection mechanism work?

The valve features a spring-loaded knurled knob with a flat indicator. Pressing down on the knob disengages the detent, allowing the user to rotate to the desired port position. Releasing the knob locks the ball into alignment with the selected outlet. The flat on the knob visually confirms the active port. Flow is bidirectional — the center port can serve as either the common inlet or the common outlet.

Construction and Media Compatibility

The body and internal components are machined from 303 and 316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance across a wide range of chemicals. A Teflon® seat seals the ball element, while user-selectable O-ring materials (Buna-N standard, EPDM or Viton optional) allow the valve to be matched to specific process fluids. The valve is rated for service with most liquids and gases at supply pressures up to 500 psig (34.5 bar).
