A 10.4-inch colour touchscreen running Windows CE provides the operator interface, while an SQL relational database manages operators, ingredients, products, recipe plans, and batch records. The system connects to up to two weighing platforms — typically a hopper scale for bulk ingredients and a platform scale for minor additions — through the Cachapuz range of analog and digital load cell interfaces.

How does the SRC manage recipe dosing and tolerance control?

Recipes are structured as products containing formulas, which in turn list ingredients with target weights and individual tolerances (absolute or percentage). Two dosing modes are available: Ingredients Sum (target = sum of all ingredient quantities) and Fixed Total (target = 100%, ingredients expressed as percentages). During execution, the terminal displays the current ingredient, its target weight, and a real-time bar graph of the dosed quantity. If an ingredient overshoots tolerance, the system can automatically recalculate downstream ingredient targets to maintain the total batch weight. An auto-feed function starts the next ingredient dose as soon as the scale detects unloading, minimizing cycle time between ingredients.

What traceability data does the SRC capture?

Every batch receives a sequential number, a batch code, and timestamped start/end records. Ingredient-level tracking captures which lot of each raw material went into which batch — critical for food, chemical, and pharmaceutical applications where lot traceability is a regulatory requirement. All archive data (operators, ingredients, products, recipes, batches) can be exported as CSV files via the SD card or Ethernet for integration with ERP or quality management systems.
