The ELOshield is ELOKON's UWB-based proximity detection system designed to prevent collisions between forklifts, pedestrians, and automated vehicles in warehouse and intralogistics environments. The system comprises vehicle-mounted antenna modules, personal wearable tags, and an in-cab visualization unit that together create a 360° detection zone around each truck.

What makes UWB different from camera or laser detection?

UWB (Ultra-Wideband) radio technology measures signal run-time between modules to determine precise distance in real time. Unlike camera-based systems, UWB signals penetrate through shelves, racking, and machinery — the system detects a pedestrian approaching from the next aisle before they become visible. Unlike laser (LiDAR), UWB has no dead zones and works reliably in dusty, poorly lit, or outdoor environments. The technology is weather-resistant and insensitive to dirt and light conditions.

What variants are available and how do they work together?

ELOshieldGO personal modules are worn by pedestrians and vibrate with escalating warnings as a forklift approaches; the truck can be automatically slowed to walking speed. ELOshieldDRIVE modules mounted on vehicles detect other trucks at up to 25 m and trigger collision warnings with automatic slowdown. ELOshieldZONE fixed modules monitor high-risk areas like aisle intersections and gate crossings, automatically braking approaching vehicles. ELOshieldSPEED enforces automatic speed limits in predefined zones. All variants operate on the same UWB platform and can be deployed together.

How is the system installed and configured?

ELOshield is OEM-independent — it retrofits onto any brand, model, or age of forklift, as well as AGVs, AMRs, and cobots. Factory pre-installation is also available for new fleet orders. Warning and protection zones are individually configurable in circular, symmetrical, or user-defined shapes with graduated response levels. The system supports up to 500 personnel simultaneously.
