The MCM is a compact 4-quadrant PWM DC motor driver module from CGS Computer Gesteuerte Systeme GmbH, designed for embedded control of brush DC motors in automation and motion control applications. It is the controller-module (CM) version of the CGS IMCM platform, providing full H-bridge drive capability with regenerative braking and direction reversal in a form factor suitable for integration into OEM equipment.

What protections does the MCM integrate?

The module includes a comprehensive protection suite that eliminates the need for external safety circuitry. Undervoltage and overvoltage lockout prevent operation outside safe supply ranges. Thermal shutdown protects against overheating under sustained high load. Linear current limiting prevents overload without abrupt cutoff, and cross-conduction protection ensures the high-side and low-side MOSFETs cannot be turned on simultaneously — a critical safeguard for H-bridge reliability.

What control interfaces and functions are available?

The MCM accepts standard PWM, direction, and enable inputs from a host microcontroller or PLC. The adjustable PWM frequency range of 1–20 kHz allows optimisation between switching losses and audible noise. Onboard features include a rotation counter for position or speed feedback, and configurable braking — the motor can be braked to V+ (high-side) or GND (low-side) depending on the application's deceleration requirements.
