The CDVI CAA480A is a dedicated PC card PLC designed for elevator access control and destination management. When installed in a CTV900ATR controller or similar system, it provides the logic and relay outputs necessary to grant or deny floor access based on valid cardholder credentials. Each module directly interfaces with elevator floor control buttons, activating the appropriate relays when an authorized card is presented.

A single CAA480A controls 16 floors via its 16 onboard relay outputs. For larger installations, up to eight modules can be cascaded over an RS485 E-BUS connection, extending control to a maximum of 64 floors across two elevator cabs. This modular approach allows the system to scale precisely with building requirements. When combined with the optional CAA-482P Destination Reporting Module, the system offers Destination Controlled Mode, which provides a detailed event trail and enhanced user accountability.

Beyond basic floor control, the CAA480A includes several features that ensure reliable and secure operation. A dedicated input accepts a signal from a fire alarm system, allowing the controller to initiate appropriate emergency responses. An onboard backup battery (12Vdc, 7Ah) maintains operation during brief power interruptions. The module also provides full supervision of its connected circuits, ensuring that faults are detected and reported.
