Product Description

The Siemens 5TG2484 is a DELTA i-system IEC antenna feed-through/end socket for 75Ω coaxial distribution systems. It is a two-port insert — IEC male on the input side, IEC female on the output side — designed for flush-mounted installation in standard 55×55mm frames. The defining feature: it ships with a 75Ω terminating resistor, so the same unit can serve as a pass-through socket in a daisy-chain or as the final end socket that closes the line.

Feed-through or stub socket — which topology?

The 5TG2484 is a feed-through socket (Durchgangsdose). It has both an input and an output — the antenna signal enters via the rear IEC plug, passes through, and exits via the front IEC socket to the next socket in the chain. When you reach the last socket in the daisy chain, you screw on the included 75Ω terminating resistor to close the line and prevent signal reflections. If your building uses star-wired distribution (each outlet has its own dedicated cable run back to a central splitter), you need the 5TG2485 stub socket instead — it has no pass-through and is designed as a single end point.

How does end-socket mode work?

In a daisy-chained antenna distribution, the last socket in the line must be terminated with a 75Ω resistor. Without it, the open-ended transmission line reflects the signal back down the cable, creating ghost images on analog TV and bit errors on digital. The 5TG2484 includes this terminator. To configure it as an end socket: connect the incoming feed to the rear IEC plug, screw the 75Ω terminator onto the front IEC output, and the line is correctly closed. No separate parts to source.

What does 4–2400MHz cover?

The 4–2400MHz frequency range spans the entire consumer and commercial RF broadcast spectrum: terrestrial TV (VHF 47–230MHz, UHF 470–862MHz), FM and DAB+ radio (87.5–240MHz), cable broadband downstream (up to 1002MHz in DOCSIS 3.1), and satellite IF (950–2150MHz). This socket is transparent to all of them — it does not filter or channel-select. Any diplexing or band-splitting happens at the distribution amplifier or multiswitch upstream.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install this horizontally?

Yes. Like all DELTA i-system 55×55mm inserts, the 5TG2484 can be mounted in horizontal or vertical frame orientations. The IEC connector orientation is straight and works in either.

Does this socket require a separate power supply?

No — this is a passive antenna socket. It does not amplify, filter, or equalize the signal. Any active electronics (amplifier, multiswitch) sit upstream in the distribution rack.
