Product Description
The Dropsa VIP5 is an electronic controller that manages centralized automatic lubrication systems — from single-line progressive and injector-based setups to dual-line systems with SUMO pumps. Its defining flexibility comes from three distinct operating modes that adapt to different machine types rather than forcing all applications into a single time-based paradigm.
How do the three operating modes differ?
CYCLE mode uses conventional timed standby and lubrication phases, suitable for machines that run continuously and need periodic relubrication at fixed intervals. PULSE mode ties lubrication directly to machine movement — each external pulse (from a proximity switch, encoder, or PLC output) triggers a lubrication event proportional to actual machine cycles. This prevents over-lubrication during slow running and under-lubrication during peak production. FLOW mode disables pump control entirely and uses the VIP5 purely as a flow monitoring and alarm display, intended for recirculating oil systems where a separate controller manages the pump.
What system configurations does VIP5 support?
For single-line systems, VIP5 controls one pump with prelube capability (up to 250 cycles on power-up) and optional auto-fill pump control for automated reservoir refilling. For spray lubrication systems, a delayed solenoid valve output provides air nozzle flushing after each lubrication cycle to prevent clogging. For dual-line systems, VIP5 controls electromagnetic or electro-pneumatic inverter valves with galvanically isolated outputs. The VIP5 Pro variant supports 3-phase pumps up to 460VAC, while VIP5 Pro ATEX is certified for hazardous environments under ATEX 94/9/CE. All variants feature separate alarm contacts for minimum level and general fault, plus a remote cycle start input for integration with machine PLCs.
