The RNA ESG 1000 is a phase-angle control unit designed to power and regulate vibratory bowl feeders and linear feeders in automated parts handling and assembly systems. Housed in an IP54 enclosure, it replaces the previous-generation ESG 90 with updated electronics and full EMC compliance under EN 50081-1 and EN 50082.

How do the two oscillation modes differ?

The ESG 1000 offers two operating modes selected via an encoding bridge in the load connector plug. Mode 1 (symmetric full-wave) drives the feeder at twice the mains frequency — 100 Hz on 50 Hz mains, 120 Hz on 60 Hz mains — producing a smooth, high-frequency vibration suitable for small parts orientation. Mode 2 (asymmetric half-wave) runs at mains frequency (50/60 Hz), generating a more aggressive conveying action for heavier components or higher feed rates. The output voltage is adjustable from 40 to 208 V eff. (at 230 V mains) via the front-panel potentiometer, and an adjustable soft-start circuit ramps power over approximately 0.5 seconds to prevent parts from jumping on startup.

How is the ESG 1000 integrated into an automated system?

The unit accepts external release via a potential-free make contact or a 16–30 VDC signal, enabling wattless disconnection from a PLC or machine control system. A sensor adapter with 5-pin connector supports bowl-level or parts-presence sensors for on-demand feeder cycling. The power output uses a Harting-style plug for quick connection to RNA vibratory drives, with color-coded cable glands distinguishing Mode 1 (black) from Mode 2 (grey) wiring. Internal trimmers allow adjustment of the decay response and time constants for specialized feeding applications.
