The CDK series is HAWE's direct-acting pressure reducing valve in screw-in cartridge form. Unlike spool-type reducing valves that inherently leak in the closed position, the CDK uses a poppet-seat design — when the valve is closed, flow is zero, not "low." This makes it suitable for load-holding circuits where downstream pressure must be held reliably without a separate check valve. The valve is overload-balanced: if secondary pressure exceeds the set point, reverse flow up to roughly twice Qmax vents back to tank, protecting the actuator from pressure spikes.

How does the CDK differ from the CLK and DK variants?

The CDK is the basic pressure-reducing function. The CLK adds an integrated downstream relief valve for overload protection in circuits where secondary pressure spikes are frequent. The DK variant incorporates a pressure switch actuated by the same adjustment element, giving both pressure regulation and an electrical switching signal from a single cartridge cavity. Choose CDK for straightforward pressure reduction, CLK where secondary overpressure protection is needed, and DK when you need a pressure switch signal without adding a separate sensor port.
