The SAET ERGON is a mobile programmable controller born from a simple but powerful design philosophy: standardization, programmability, and customization in a single device. It was engineered to answer a fundamental frustration with the industrial controls market—most products are rigid, unable to adapt to unforeseen needs, forcing expensive replacements or compromises. ERGON takes the opposite approach. It is built to be tailored to any operating condition, whether foreseen in the short term or not.

The hardware is designed for the unrelenting environments of automotive and heavy vehicle applications. A fully sealed IP67 enclosure with an anti-condensing valve protects the internal electronics from dust, water, and even temporary submersion. The choice of Molex connectors—available in 48, 80, or 112-pin configurations depending on the model—provides a robust and reliable interface that stands up to vibration and harsh conditions. Special mounting brackets allow installation on any surface, even curved or irregular ones, solving a practical challenge often overlooked in controller design.

On the I/O side, ERGON offers a comprehensive suite of configurable inputs and powerful outputs. Up to 32 inputs can be individually set to accept digital signals, analog values, frequency measurements, or variable resistance, providing exceptional flexibility in field data acquisition. On the output side, eight channels can deliver up to 5 amperes each, making them ideal for directly driving hydraulic valves or other high-power actuators. Four dedicated PWM outputs enable precise, progressive control of proportional valves or motor speeds. Importantly, every output—both PWM and on/off—includes diagnostic measurement, allowing the controller to monitor load conditions and detect faults in real time.

At the software level, ERGON embraces open standards. It is programmed using LogicLab, a full-featured development environment compliant with the IEC 61131-3 standard. All five programming languages defined by the standard are available, giving engineers the freedom to choose the most appropriate tool for each task—whether ladder logic for simple sequences, structured text for complex algorithms, or function block diagram for process control. This commitment to open standards protects engineering investments and eliminates vendor lock-in. Communication capabilities include CANopen for networking up to 16 units together, and RS232 with Modbus protocol for integration with HMIs and supervisory systems.

ERGON is available in three scalable models: S, M, and L. The S model provides 14 inputs and 12 outputs (including 8 PWM) in a compact 48-pin package. The M model expands to 20 inputs and 20 outputs (12 PWM) with an 80-pin connector, adding custom CANbus capability. The L model offers 34 inputs and 19 outputs (4 PWM) with a 112-pin connector, built around the RX63N processor with 1Mbit EEPROM. All models share the same 8-32VDC power supply range and -40°C to +85°C operating temperature, making them suitable for the most demanding mobile and industrial applications.
