Product Description
The RKC INSTRUMENT PF900 is a high-performance 1/4 DIN ramp/soak programmable controller engineered for precision temperature and process control in demanding industrial applications. It combines a large program memory with a suite of advanced control algorithms to deliver exceptional stability and reproducibility. The controller is particularly well-suited for environmental test chambers, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, test stands, and complex heat treatment processes where precise, multi-step temperature or process profiles are critical.
At the core of the PF900 is its substantial program memory, capable of storing up to 1024 segments. This can be flexibly allocated across up to 99 distinct patterns, allowing for configurations ranging from 99 patterns of 10 segments each to 10 patterns of 99 segments each. Using the pattern link function, a single, massive program of 1024 segments can be created by linking 32 patterns of 32 segments. Each segment can be assigned a duration from 0 hours/minutes to 500 hours/minutes, providing immense flexibility for long-duration test cycles or complex thermal recipes. The controller maintains a measurement accuracy of ±0.1% of the displayed value, with a fast sampling time of 0.1 seconds, which can be further refined to 0.05 seconds for high-resolution requirements or 0.25 seconds for enhanced stability.
The PF900 incorporates the proprietary RSS (Ramp/Soak Stabilizer) algorithm, which is designed to simultaneously improve tracking performance during ramp initiation and effectively suppress overshoot as the process transitions to the soak phase. This results in tighter adherence to the programmed profile and minimizes product waste or test failures. For added control flexibility, users can independently assign either Level-PID or Segment-PID to each program segment. Level-PID allows for the pre-definition of up to 8 sets of PID parameters that can be recalled, while Segment-PID stores PID values in up to 8 memory groups that are linked to specific segments. This dual-mode approach ensures optimal control response for every stage of a complex program.
Versatile I/O capabilities make the PF900 adaptable to a wide range of machine interfaces. The controller features a universal input that supports a comprehensive array of sensor types, including thermocouples, RTDs, and DC voltage/current signals. For event handling and external sequencing, it provides 5 digital inputs (DI7~11) that can be configured for functions such as Run, Hold, Step, and Pattern Switching. Standard equipment includes 4 relay digital outputs (DO1~4), with the option to expand to a total of 12 outputs (DO5~12 are open collector). Up to 8 points can be assigned as time signal or segment signal outputs, enabling the controller to directly actuate external devices based on time or program segment progression. The plug-in construction simplifies installation and maintenance.
Configuration and monitoring are streamlined via a dedicated front loader communication port. When connected to a PC via a USB communication converter (COM-K-3, sold separately) and using the free WinUCI-PF900 software, engineers can graphically create, edit, and manage complex program patterns with ease. The front panel's 11-segment display provides at-a-glance information, including the active pattern and segment numbers, remaining time, output values, and a graphical representation of the program profile. Optional communication interfaces, including RS-485 (Modbus), RS-232C, and RS-422, facilitate seamless integration into broader automation and SCADA systems.
