One module for standard signals and temperature sensors

Half the channels (4) handle voltage (±10 V, 0–10 V, 1–5 V, ±80 mV) and current (0–20 mA, ±20 mA, 4–20 mA); the other half (4) handle RTD and thermocouple sensors. Instead of buying a dedicated analog input module and a separate temperature module, one 6KD00 covers both — fewer PROFINET nodes, fewer power connections, less mounting space.

How does the integrating ADC compare to the 4AQ's resistor-network conversion?

The 6KD00 uses an integrating measurement principle with configurable integration time (2/16.67/20/100 ms) matched to interference frequency suppression (500/60/50/10 Hz). This gives better noise rejection in electrically noisy environments — the trade-off is conversion speed (4–102 ms per channel vs. the 4AQ's 1 ms). For temperature and process signals this is normally acceptable; for high-speed analog output generation, choose the 4AQ.
