The 6SL3520-1XK02-2AB0 is a 2.2 kW SINAMICS G115D distributed drive in the FSB frame, distinguished by its 1/3-phase wide-voltage input and integrated braking chopper. The wide-voltage front end accepts either single-phase or three-phase supply at 380-480 V — the drive automatically adapts its rectification stage. This flexibility eliminates the need to run a three-phase feeder to every machine-mounted drive location, a practical advantage in retrofit scenarios where only single-phase distribution is available at the point of use.

Why the braking chopper matters at 2.2 kW

At the 2.2 kW power level, a distributed drive frequently handles short-cycle material handling — conveyors with frequent starts and stops, lift gates, transfer stations. Each deceleration event returns kinetic energy to the DC link. The integrated braking chopper with internal braking resistor (180 V DC, line-voltage independent) dissipates this regenerative energy safely inside the drive enclosure. Without it, the drive would trip on DC-link overvoltage during rapid deceleration, forcing longer ramp-down times that reduce throughput. FSB frame installation

The FSB frame measures approximately 216 × 140 × 425 mm and mounts directly on the machine frame or wall via four bolts. All power and signal connections use IP65-glanded plug-in connectors on the underside. Natural convection cooling means no fan maintenance and no forced-air noise — the drive dissipates heat passively through the finned aluminum housing.
