Product Description

HRSflow is the hot runner control platform from Oerlikon HRSflow — the hot runner division of INglass S.p.A. (Italy), now part of the Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions group. The platform splits into two complementary control unit families that together manage every thermal and mechanical variable in a modern hot runner injection mold. T-Flow HRS handles temperature: modular PID control from 6 to 120 heating zones in multiples of 6, covering nozzle tips, manifold channels, and sprue bushings. V-Flow HRS handles sequential valve gate timing: independent control of up to 30 valve pins with programmable position (stroke), opening velocity, and acceleration — up to 4 phases per injection cycle — for cascade molding of large parts where the melt front must be directed to eliminate weld lines.

What makes the T-Flow temperature control energy-efficient?

Beyond standard PID regulation, T-Flow incorporates several energy-management features. Soft-start mode ramps heater power gradually during cold-start to avoid thermal shock to ceramic heater elements and prevent current inrush tripping plant breakers. The integrated timer enables automatic weekday/weekend on/off scheduling — the mold preheats before the shift starts and enters low-power standby during breaks. External heat sinks provide continuous passive heat dissipation from the control cabinet, reducing air-conditioning load in the molding cell. Combined with the ECOflow hot runner series — which reduces manifold power consumption by approximately 25% and manifold volume/weight by up to one-third — the integrated T-Flow controller contributes to the overall energy balance of the injection molding cell.

How does the TSA diagnostic system work?

Thermodynamic State Analysis (TSA) continuously compares the real-time thermal signature of each heating zone against a saved reference profile established during a known-good production run. A deviation in the temperature rise rate, steady-state power draw, or cooling curve of a specific zone indicates a developing problem — a failing heater cartridge, a partially blocked cooling channel, or a plastic leak that is pulling heat away from the nozzle body. TSA detects these anomalies before they cause reject parts, sending an immediate alarm with step-by-step troubleshooting instructions on the touchscreen. The OPC UA interface conforming to Euromap 82.2 — the industry-standard protocol for hot runner controller integration with injection molding machines — enables the molding machine's central controller to read zone temperatures, setpoint deviations, and alarm status directly, closing the MES-to-mold data loop.
