The WEG PLC410 is a DIN rail programmable controller launched by WEG in 2024 as the next-generation successor to the established PLC500 line. Destined to become the brains of automation in OEM equipment and industrial machinery, the PLC410 is designed to serve medium-sized applications requiring a versatile balance of performance, connectivity, and cost-effectiveness. The controller is fully programmable using the industry-standard CODESYS® software platform, enabling developers to create advanced process programming logic using multiple IEC 61131-3 languages. Like the PLC500 and the RUW100 line of remote I/Os, the PLC410 is built on a multi-product platform that allows for the exchange of MOD line IO expansion cards, providing customers with unprecedented flexibility and inventory savings.

The PLC410 supports up to 208 I/Os locally through its modular expansion architecture. The base unit provides eight digital inputs (DI1-DI8) and eight digital outputs (DO1-DO8). Notably, these digital channels can be configured via CODESYS to function as encoder inputs or PWM outputs, offering enhanced flexibility for motion and control applications without additional hardware. The controller leverages the same MOD line expansion cards used across the WEG RUW100 remote I/O family and PLC500 series, ensuring consistent hardware strategy and reduced spare parts inventory for system integrators and OEMs.

Communication capabilities are comprehensive and future-ready. The PLC410 includes Modbus RTU/TCP, CANopen, Ethernet/IP, and EtherCAT protocols as standard, enabling seamless integration into diverse industrial networks. The controller supports connection of up to 246 Modbus/RTU slaves on a single RS485 network, with repeaters required for configurations exceeding 32 devices. As a WEG IoT Ready device, the PLC410 natively supports MQTT and other Industry 4.0 protocols, facilitating cloud connectivity and remote monitoring applications.

The PLC410 features a built-in webpage accessible via Ethernet, providing operators and maintenance personnel with a comprehensive interface for system monitoring and management. The webpage includes Status pages for real-time diagnostics (operating time, RAM and internal memory usage, internet connection status), Configuration pages for system settings, Visualization pages for custom HMI displays, and Administration pages for advanced functions including factory reset. The factory reset function erases all applications, logs, files, and configuration data before restarting the product. The PLC410 is ideally suited for OEM applications including packaging machines, labelers, and filling equipment, as well as industrial sectors such as pulp and paper, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, and sugar and alcohol production.
