Product Description
The Fiessler FPSC (Fiessler Programmable Safety Center) is a modular safety PLC designed specifically for personal protection and safety functions in industrial automation. As a programmable electronic safety controller, the FPSC complies with the highest safety requirements, achieving SIL 3 according to IEC 61508, PL e according to EN ISO 13849-1, and SK4 according to EN 954-1. The product family provides maximum flexibility within its hardware and software structure, making it suitable for a wide range of safety-critical applications.

At the heart of the FPSC's reliability is its dual independent redundant microprocessor architecture. Both systems operate with internally separate voltage supplies and perform continuous crosswise data comparison via an internal connection. A continuous self-test ensures error recognition and contributes to achieving maximum safety integrity. The safe state of the FPSC system is the de-energised state, meaning all outputs are switched off (voltage-free) when an internal error is detected or the voltage supply is interrupted.
The base FPSC unit offers a comprehensive I/O configuration: 32 safety inputs for floating/non-floating sensors (configurable as up to 16 2-channel inputs), 4 fast safety inputs, 4 fast bipolar safety outputs, 8 monopolar semiconductor outputs (equivalent to 4 2-channel outputs), 4 alarm inputs, and 4 alarm outputs. Two serial interfaces provide communication with superior controls for operating sequence control, technology control, and data visualization. The FPSC-AD enhanced version adds a safety-related bus interface (CAN-based), enabling the connection of up to 7 decentralized I/O modules. This modular expansion can add up to 168 additional inputs (84 2-channel) and 84 additional 2-channel semiconductor outputs. Optional counter inputs (2 channels, 0.5MHz) are available on FPSC-B-C and FPSC-AD-C versions via RS422 interface.
Programming the FPSC is accomplished using pre-assembled and tested software modules, eliminating the need for complex custom coding. Safety-related functions are programmed by simple assignment of input and output addresses, with intermediate data stored in temporary storage. A variety of ready-to-use software modules are available. Installation is streamlined by a simple snap-on mechanism for fastening items on DIN rails in the switch cabinet, considerably reducing installation expenditure. The FPSC series is ideal for safety-critical applications in press brake safeguarding, light curtain monitoring, two-hand control stations, and general machine safety where certified functional safety is paramount.
