Product Description

The Warner Electric D2750 is an accel/decel controller for electromagnetic clutches and brakes — it ramps torque up and down over an adjustable 0–2 second window instead of applying full torque instantly. This soft-start/soft-stop action eliminates the shock loads and mechanical hammering that cause premature wear on clutch and brake facings, couplings, and driven components. The unit operates one or two coils independently, with built-in anti-overlap logic ensuring the clutch and brake can never energize simultaneously.

How does the adjustable ramp work in practice?

A potentiometer sets the ramp time between 0 and 2 seconds for both acceleration (clutch engagement) and deceleration (brake engagement). At power-on, output voltage ramps from 0 to 90 VDC over the set time — the clutch engages progressively rather than snapping in. At power-off, the output decays over the same ramp, giving the brake a controlled stopping action. The clutch or brake always reaches full torque at the end of the ramp period, so there is no loss of holding or driving capacity — only the transition is softened.

How does the D2750 integrate with a PLC or machine control system?

The 120 VAC input is directly switchable by PLC relay outputs, contactors, or manual switches — no intermediate signal conditioning needed. The built-in arc suppression network protects the switching contacts from inductive kickback, extending relay life. The dual-channel design means a single D2750 can manage both the clutch and brake on one axis, triggered by separate PLC outputs. DIN-rail mounting fits standard control panels alongside other automation components.
