The Ingeteam INGESYS TCMS is a modular PLC system purpose-built for the railway sector, serving as a comprehensive Train Control and Monitoring System (TCMS). It is a scalable, flexible, and high-performance platform designed to automate and supervise all critical functions within rolling stock. The system is certified to the stringent EN50155 Class TX standard for railway electronic equipment and EN45545-2 for fire protection, with safety-related applications supported up to SIL 3 integrity. Its modular design encompasses a complete suite of components including vehicle control units (VCU), remote I/O units (RIO), human-machine interfaces (HMI), and remote condition monitoring (RCM), enabling a fully integrated and optimized control solution for any rail vehicle.

The architecture of the INGESYS TCMS is built for maximum reliability and availability. The system supports a distributed I/O topology based on CAN buses, MVB, and Ethernet, allowing I/O modules to be placed near field devices while communicating over a robust backbone. Redundancy is a foundational principle: power supply modules, processor modules, I/O modules, and communication paths can all be configured in redundant topologies with hot standby behavior, ensuring a bumpless changeover in the event of a failure. Hot-swap capability for modules further minimizes downtime during maintenance. The system's I/O modules are designed for DIN rail mounting, with connections available via DIN 41612 F connectors or terminal blocks. The VCU components can be installed in 19-inch racks. The power supply options include 24Vdc input (IC3602) and a wide-range 88-300Vdc / 85-250Vac input (IC3603), with N+1 redundancy support.

The INGESYS TCMS offers an extensive range of I/O modules to interface with diverse sensors and actuators found in railway applications. Digital input modules include 32-channel 24Vdc, 16-channel 24Vdc with 8 fast encoder inputs, and 16/24-channel 110Vdc configurations. Digital output modules provide 16 channels of 24Vdc 2A outputs with independent supply, 16 channels of 110Vdc 200mA outputs, and 8-channel relay output modules available in both 24Vdc and 110Vdc auxiliary power variants. Analog I/O includes 16-channel analog input modules (±10V/±20mA software-configurable), 16-channel PT100 temperature input modules, and 8-channel analog output modules. Communication modules cover MVB, WTB, CANopen (Master/Slave), and serial RS232/485 interfaces.

Programming the INGESYS TCMS leverages industry-standard tools and languages to maximize engineering efficiency. The platform supports the full suite of IEC 61131-3 standard languages (IL, ST, SFC, LD, FBD) via a Codesys-based environment. For advanced control algorithms, engineers can utilize MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++. Embedded web services enable remote parameterization and diagnostics, while an integrated events and data logger module provides comprehensive historical data viewing. The system supports centralized cloud-based supervision of all vehicle information, with communication between trains and stations enabled over GSM, WLAN, and GPRS links.
