The Honeywell Searchline Excel is an open path infrared gas detector for continuous monitoring of flammable hydrocarbon gases. It is immune to interference from sunlight, flare stacks, arc welding, and lightning, ensuring reliable operation in challenging outdoor environments. Patented double band pass filters fully compensate for fog and rain, allowing accurate operation in all climatic conditions.

The detector detects a wide range of hydrocarbons including methane, ethane, propane, butane, pentane, ethylene, propylene, and butadiene. It offers a measurement range of 0 to 5 LEL.m with T90 response time under 3 seconds. The 316 stainless steel housing provides durability in harsh environments, and the detector operates from -40°F to 150°F. Applications include offshore platforms, FPSO vessels, chemical processing plants, gas pipelines, large storage areas, and perimeter detection.
