The DH-Budenberg Model 80 is a portable hydraulic pipeline tester designed for accurate measurement of arbitrary and fluctuating pressure in power plants, pipelines, and other industrial applications. It operates on the same measurement principle as deadweight testers, using masses to balance against pressure.

To measure pressure, masses are added to the piston unit corresponding to a pressure just below the value to be measured. The total downward force is balanced by pressure from the spindle pump applied to the stepped area of the piston. The low pressure is indicated on a precision dial gauge, and the reading is added to the pressure equivalent of the masses used. The mass carrier weight corresponds to the gauge scale range and is ignored.

The piston unit and test masses are calibrated against standards traceable to national standards. The ergonomic layout makes it ideal for field use, with choice of 600 bar or 8000 psi pressure range and 0.03% accuracy.
