Product Description
The RF627BiSmart is a dual-camera laser triangulation profiler that moves measurement intelligence into the sensor head. Instead of streaming raw profile data to an external PC for processing, the BiSmart runs user-defined measurement algorithms, tolerance checks, and pass/fail decisions directly onboard and communicates results over industrial protocols — Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, and UDP — to a PLC, robot controller, or SCADA system without middleware.
Why two cameras instead of one?
Single-camera laser profilers suffer from occlusion: when the laser line is blocked by a raised feature from the camera's viewpoint, that section of the profile is lost. The RF627BiSmart's second camera views the laser line from a different angle, so features hidden from one camera are visible to the other. The two profiles are fused into a single combined output of up to 2,912 points, yielding a more complete cross-section of the target — particularly valuable for measuring grooves, shoulders, and stepped geometries where a single camera would produce gaps in the data.
What does the built-in measurement capability eliminate?
In a conventional laser profiler setup, raw X-Z point arrays are sent to a PC running a measurement SDK. The developer writes code to extract features — edge positions, widths, heights, angles — and handle I/O. The BiSmart moves this logic into the sensor firmware. Measurement tools (line, circle, point, distance, angle) are configured through a web interface or configuration file, and results are published directly as process data over the industrial protocol of choice. This eliminates the PC from the real-time control loop, reduces system latency, and simplifies integration into automated inspection cells where a dedicated vision PC per sensor would be impractical.
