Temperature-only vs. universal analog input — which one?

The 6KD50 dedicates all 8 channels to temperature sensors — RTD (Pt100/Pt1000/Ni100/Ni1000 in 2/3/4-wire) and thermocouple (types E, J, K, N). If every signal you need to read is a temperature, this is the cleaner choice. Need to mix in a 4–20 mA pressure transmitter or a 0–10 V level sensor? The 6KD00 (4 U/I + 4 RTD/TC) is the universal alternative — same housing, same connector count, but 4 of its 8 channels handle standard analog signals instead.

RTD connection options

All three wiring methods are supported: 2-wire (simplest, no lead compensation), 3-wire (compensates for equal lead resistances — the industry standard for Pt100), and 4-wire (eliminates lead resistance entirely — best accuracy). The choice is set per channel in TIA Portal.

Field installation

IP65/IP67 zinc die-cast housing, 60 mm wide. Each of the 8 M12 connectors serves one temperature sensor channel. The integrated PROFINET 2-port switch handles daisy-chain topology. Operating range is -20 °C to +50 °C — narrower than the digital eco PN modules, a constraint of the analog sensing circuitry. Phase-out announced 01.10.2024.
