Product Description
The MD Series from Effecto Group is a 2-jaw automatic indexing chuck for CNC turning centers. It combines hydraulic workpiece clamping with an integrated indexing mechanism that rotates the gripped part between machining operations — eliminating the need for manual repositioning or a separate rotary axis when features must be machined on multiple faces of the workpiece.
How does indexing work in a turning chuck?
Indexing chucks like the MD Series perform a controlled unclamp-rotate-reclamp cycle within the machine tool's programmed sequence. After the first face is machined, the chuck partially releases clamping pressure, indexes the workpiece to the next angular position (typically 90°, 180°, or 270°), and re-applies full clamping force — all without operator intervention. This preserves the common reference datum established at the first setup, eliminating the cumulative alignment errors that occur when a part is manually removed, rotated, and re-indicated.
