The MNC 1000 is Monforts' high-performance lathe for 2- and 4-axis machining of workpieces up to 1,000 mm in diameter, with an upper turret and an optional lower turret. Its Z-axis runs on hydrostatic guidance that never touches, so there is nothing to wear.

Why hydrostatic guidance on a heavy lathe?

A rolled or box guide on a metre-class shaft carries metal-to-metal load, and the ways wear where the weight sits — accuracy drifts with the years. The MNC 1000's hydrostatic Z-axis floats the slide on oil, so the same 0.003 mm concentricity holds long after a conventional bed would have worn a groove.
