The Rosemount 8600 Series Vortex Flow Meter is optimized for general purpose flow metering and utility applications including clean fluids and steam flow . The 8600 Utility Vortex meter offers enhanced reliability and simplified maintenance with superior vibration immunity without any moving parts. Installation is easy with no impulse lines or zeroing required, and internal verification of both the electronics and sensor add enhanced process insight .

The multivariable vortex design incorporates a temperature sensor into the vortex meter using the shedder bar as a thermowell, which keeps the temperature sensor isolated from the process for easy verification and replacement. The 8600 calculates density from measured process temperature and uses the calculated density to provide a temperature compensated mass flow .

The meter is available in 1 to 8 inch sizes with a 30:1 turndown ratio. Accuracy is ±0.75% of volumetric rate for liquids, ±1% of volumetric rate for gas and steam, and ±2% of rate for mass flow on steam using the temperature input. It features a 4–20 mA HART digital signal and is housed in an aluminum enclosure with stainless steel wetted parts, rated FM Type 4X and IP66 .
