The TCI C43-XS is a compact all-in-one programmable logic controller that fundamentally rethinks the relationship between hardware, software, and the engineer. By embedding the entire development environment—PLC programming tool, HMI editor, and web server—directly onto the controller itself, it eliminates the traditional dependency on external engineering software installations. This HTML5-based approach means that any standard web browser, whether on a PC, tablet, or even smartphone, becomes a fully functional engineering workstation. The controller uses Function Block Diagram (FuP) as its programming paradigm, which runs as a native web application on the PLC and requires no license fees, no installation, and no operating system lock-in. It is a truly software-defined automation platform, purpose-built for a world where remote access, cloud connectivity, and rapid reconfiguration are no longer optional.

The C43-XS features a 4.3-inch widescreen WVGA (800x272) TFT touchscreen with an analog resistive touch panel. The front fascia is covered with a decorative film that can be customized with specific branding, logos, or color schemes, making it suitable for OEM machine builders who need a consistent visual identity. The plastic chassis carries an IP65 protection rating, meaning it is fully sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes the C43-XS suitable for installation in exposed environments where traditional PLCs with lower IP ratings would require additional protective enclosures.

Connectivity is handled by a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support. PoE is a significant engineering advantage: the controller can be powered and networked simultaneously through a single standard Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for a separate 24VDC power supply wiring. This simplifies installation, reduces cable clutter, and allows the C43-XS to be placed in locations where running power and data cables separately would be impractical or cost-prohibitive. The onboard I/O configuration includes six digital inputs (24V), four digital outputs (24V, 0.5A), and four analog inputs (0-10V, 10-bit resolution). The C43-XS employs permanent, power-failure-proof memory for all stored programs, configuration data, and logged information. This architecture ensures that during unexpected power interruptions, no application code or critical process data is lost. When power is restored, the controller returns to its last operational state without requiring manual intervention or program reloading. The controller is equally suited for compact machine control, serving as an IIoT gateway for Industry 4.0 applications, or functioning as a dedicated data logger with built-in cloud connectivity. The operating temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, combined with IP65 sealing, ensures reliable operation in a wide variety of industrial environments.
