Product Description
The TOHO TTM Series encompasses a broad family of digital PID temperature regulators designed for industrial heating and cooling control. Every model in the series features universal input capability—a single unit can be configured via parameter settings to accept thermocouples (K, J, R, T, N, S, B), RTDs (Pt100, JPt100), DC voltage (0-5 V, 1-5 V, 0-10 V), and DC current (4-20 mA) without hardware modification. This eliminates the need to stock separate controller variants for different sensor types in multi-loop installations. The series spans six form factors from 24×48 mm to 96×96 mm, with panel depth as shallow as 59.7 mm (TTM-214 series) or 77 mm (TTM-000 series), and a front panel that meets IP66 requirements for dusty and wet industrial environments.
Universal Input — One Controller, All Sensor Types
- Full Multi-Input Flexibility: A single TTM controller is field-configurable from the front panel to accept thermocouple, RTD, voltage, or current sensors—no jumpers or solder bridges to change. The display range spans -1999 to +9999 (four-digit mode) with decimal-point scaling for high-resolution applications.
- CT Input and Heater Break Alarm: An optional CT (current transformer) input monitors the load circuit. If the heater current remains absent for at least 190 ms while the control output is active, the controller triggers a heater wire break alarm with configurable delay—a critical diagnostic feature for multi-zone furnaces and packaging machines where a failed heater on one zone can go undetected for hours.
- Six Sizes for Any Panel Layout: Available form factors include 24×48, 48×48, 48×96, 72×72, 96×48, and 96×96 mm. The 48×48 mm models (TTM-004 series) require a 45×45 mm panel cutout and occupy only 77 mm of depth behind the panel. For even tighter spaces, the TTM-214 series reduces depth to 59.7 mm while maintaining 48×48 mm front dimensions.
Self-Tuning PID and Overshoot Prevention
- Self-Tuning PID: The controller continuously monitors the control response and automatically recalculates optimal PID constants—no manual tuning cycle required. This is distinct from one-shot auto-tuning: self-tuning PID adapts to changing process dynamics (e.g., varying loads, aging heating elements) without operator intervention.
- Fuzzy Logic Overshoot Protection: At initial startup, when the temperature rises rapidly toward the setpoint, the fuzzy logic function dynamically adjusts the PID output to prevent overshoot—a frequent cause of product defects in plastics processing and heat treatment. The algorithm is particularly effective for processes with high thermal inertia where conventional PID controllers tend to overshoot by several degrees before stabilizing.
- Balanceless & Bumpless Manual Control: When switching from automatic PID mode to manual control, the output value at the moment of transfer is retained—there is no sudden jump or drop in heater power that could disturb the process. This mode is useful during commissioning, sensor replacement, or diagnostic testing of individual heating zones.
- Blind Function: Unused or sensitive parameters can be hidden from the operator menu. Example: lock the PID integral time setting so that only the setpoint and alarm values remain visible—preventing accidental changes by untrained staff on the production floor.
Loader Communication and RS-485 Networking
- PC Loader Communication: All TTM controllers support parameter setting via a loader cable (sold separately) connected to a PC. No external power supply is needed—the controller is powered through the USB connection. The dedicated Loader software enables rapid configuration copying and batch deployment across dozens of controllers, reducing commissioning time in multi-zone systems.
- RS-485 with Dual Protocol: Models equipped with RS-485 can communicate using both the TOHO proprietary protocol and the industry-standard Modbus RTU protocol, selectable by parameter. This allows direct integration with PLCs, touch panels, and SCADA systems from any manufacturer.
- Data Integrity: All configuration parameters and PID settings are stored in EEPROM memory with indefinite retention. In the event of a power failure, the controller restores the integral operation quantity from EEPROM, reducing stabilization time upon power restoration and minimizing the defect rate during frequent start-stop cycles.
