Product Description
The LAUDA Integral IN T/TW Series represents a generation of process thermostats with integrated cooling, designed for dynamic external temperature control in research, pilot plants, and production. Models cover working temperatures from -32 °C to 150 °C with a PID self-adapt function and a temperature stability of ±0.05 K. The open hydraulic system allows rapid venting and outgassing, making the thermostat suitable for applications with frequent changes of the connected consumer, such as reactor temperature control, climate simulation, and material testing.
Precision Control and Fast Thermal Response
- ±0.05 K Temperature Stability: The fully electronic continuous PID controller with self-adapt function automatically determines optimal control parameters, enabling precise thermal regulation even under fluctuating load conditions. The colour TFT display provides simultaneous indication of actual and set values plus a graphical temperature profile, while the Tmax key provides immediate access to the overtemperature safety limit. Six user-selectable languages (German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian) support international deployment.
- PowerAdapt System: The control system uses the maximum possible amount of heat permitted by the connected power supply system, reducing heat-up times without exceeding the electrical supply limit. The small internal filling volume (from 3.6 L on IN 230 TW) combined with tailored heating and cooling outputs enables rapid temperature changes—for example, from -30 °C to 120 °C on the IN 230 TW model with a 2.7 kW heater and up to 2.3 kW of cooling output at 20 °C.
- T and TW Differentiations: T variants (e.g., IN 130 T, IN 230 T, IN 1030 T) are equipped with a pressure pump only for heating and cooling control via the integrated cooling system. TW variants (e.g., IN 230 TW, IN 530 TW, IN 1330 TW) add a cooling water connection, enabling the use of lower-cost cooling water for cooling-down steps at temperatures above 30 °C. All TW models can also operate with an external air or water cooler.
Modular Connectivity and Web Server
- Standard Interfaces: USB, Ethernet, and an external Pt100 sensor input are standard equipment. The integrated web server allows browser-based remote monitoring and setpoint adjustment from any PC, tablet, or smartphone on the local network—no additional software required. Remote fault indication via a floating contact integrates into plant-wide monitoring systems.
- Optional Communication Modules: The modular interface concept supports up to two additional interface modules, including RS 232/485, Profibus, analogue (4–20 mA or 0–10 V), contact, and EtherCAT. This enables the IN T/TW to integrate into existing automation architectures without protocol converters or gateways. LAUDA LIVE equipment remote monitoring is also available as an option.
Energy Efficiency and System Diagnostics
- SmartCool Energy Management: The SmartCool system digitally controls the compressor output, switching it off when cooling demand is low and reactivating it precisely when required. This reduces energy consumption during part-load operation and extends the life of the compressor. Over the lifetime of a typical laboratory thermostat, SmartCool can prevent hundreds of kilowatt-hours of unnecessary compressor runtime.
- SelfCheck Assistant: The integrated SelfCheck diagnostic function provides on-screen troubleshooting guidance, helping laboratory personnel identify and resolve issues without calling a service technician. The assistant covers common operational problems such as insufficient flow, sensor faults, and communication errors, reducing downtime and service costs.
- Pressure Limitation with Bypass: The integrated, adjustable bypass provides a secondary pressure-limiting circuit that protects the connected consumer from excess pressure, regardless of how the pump is configured. Both the pump and bypass are conveniently accessible for adjustment.
Applications
- Pharmaceutical and chemical reactor temperature control at pilot and production scale
- Material stress testing and climate simulation chambers requiring precise thermal profiles
- High-throughput catalyst screening in combinatorial chemistry
- Temperature-dependent rheology and spectroscopy measurements
- Production processes in the food, plastics, and semiconductor industries where consistent temperature control determines product quality and yield
