Product Description
The Elentek SCOUT is a configurable pump control panel for managing up to three pumps in emptying, filling, or flow-switch applications. It uses current-based monitoring — rather than external sensors — for dry-run detection (minimum current threshold) and motor overcurrent protection, reducing the component count and wiring complexity of traditional float-and-relay panels.
How does pump rotation extend service life?
When pump rotation is enabled, the SCOUT alternates which pump starts on each float or pressure switch call, distributing operating hours evenly across all pumps in the group. A configurable simultaneous start delay from 0.3 to 5 seconds prevents all pumps from drawing inrush current at once in multi-pump topologies. If the primary pump trips on overcurrent, a second pump is automatically activated. The controller also enforces a maximum starts-per-hour limit (0–30, configurable) to prevent motor overheating from excessive cycling.
How does the current-based protection work?
Two current thresholds are configured per pump: Imin sets the minimum current below which the pump is considered to be running dry (set to 0 to disable), and Imax sets the overcurrent trip point — the manufacturer specifies this must equal the motor nameplate rated current plus approximately 15%. Both thresholds include configurable delay timers (0.3–8 seconds) to prevent nuisance tripping on start-up inrush or momentary flow interruptions. A probe sensitivity setting (1–9) adjusts for liquid conductivity when using conductive level probes.
How does the SCOUT handle alarm conditions?
On a dry-run alarm, the controller initiates cyclic restart attempts with two-stage retry timing (TR1 and TR2, 1–20 minutes each), giving the water source time to recover before re-attempting pump operation. Alarm suppression on start-up prevents false trips while the pump primes. A flow switch virtual time function (2–30 seconds) provides a configurable window for flow verification after pump start before declaring a no-flow fault.
