The Wasinex DSK-3 is an electronic automatic pressure control switch designed to manage domestic and light agricultural water pumps without an external pressure tank. It detects flow demand and system pressure to start and stop the pump, replacing conventional mechanical pressure switches and bladder-tank setups with a compact inline device.

How does the DSK-3 detect when to start and stop the pump?

The DSK-3 monitors both water flow and line pressure. When a tap opens and flow begins, the switch detects the pressure drop and starts the pump. When the tap closes and flow stops, the switch senses the pressure rise and stops the pump at the preset cutoff threshold. The startup pressure is selectable at 1.2, 1.5, or 2.2 bar via an internal adjustment, allowing the installer to match the controller to the system head and desired responsiveness.

What pump ratings does the DSK-3 support?

The controller handles single-phase pumps up to 2.2 kW (16 A rated current) at 110–220 V AC, 50/60 Hz wide-range input. The G1″ (1-inch BSP) male thread mounts directly onto the pump outlet or discharge pipe. Maximum working pressure is 10 bar; maximum liquid temperature is 60 °C.

How does the dry-run protection work?

If the DSK-3 detects a loss of water supply — indicated by flow absence despite the pump running — it automatically cuts power to the pump to prevent mechanical seal damage and motor burnout. When water supply is restored, the auto-restart function resumes normal operation without manual reset. This also applies after a power outage: the controller restarts the pump automatically once mains power returns.

How does the DSK-3 differ from the DSK-3C?

The standard DSK-3 uses a straightforward dry-run detection and immediate auto-restart sequence. The DSK-3C variant adds a programmable retry cycle with escalating intervals — 8 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 hour, then every hour thereafter — and uses a fixed 1.5 bar startup. For most residential applications, the DSK-3's immediate restart behavior is sufficient. The DSK-3C is intended for installations where extended dry-run conditions are more likely and gradual retry escalation is preferred.
