The Optris CT G5 infrared temperature sensor is designed for measuring the temperature of glass, including flat glass, container glass, and applications for car glass, light bulbs, and photovoltaic cell manufacturing. It has a temperature range of up to 3002°F, and functions in ambient temperatures up to 185°F without additional cooling .

Two models are available: the G5L covers 212 to 2192°F with 10:1 optical resolution and 120ms response time; the G5H covers 482 to 3002°F with 20:1 optical resolution and 80ms response time. Accuracy is ±1% or ±3.6°F. The spectral range is 5µm, and emissivity is adjustable from 0.1 to 1.1 .

Selectable analog outputs and multiple digital interfaces offer high variability. Field selectable analog output options include 0/4-20mA, 0-5V, 0-10V, type K or J thermocouples, and alarm. The sensor includes a programmable functional input for setting external emissivity, ambient temperature compensation, and reset of hold functions. It also features peak hold, valley hold, average, and an extended hold function with threshold and hysteresis .

Optional plug-in interfaces include USB, RS485, RS232, 2 optically isolated relay outputs, CAN-Bus, Profibus DP, and Ethernet. The sensor operates on 8-36 VDC power supply with 100mA max current draw, is IP65 NEMA-4 rated, and available in 3, 8, or 15m cable lengths.
