The OnLogic Karbon 801 is a low-profile, high-performance rugged computer engineered to deliver exceptional computing power in extreme environments. Powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors (Alder Lake-S), the system leverages Intel's hybrid core architecture to adapt processing threads to the right core for optimal performance. At just 60mm tall, it provides installation flexibility for space-constrained deployments.

Processor and Chipset

The Karbon 801 supports a wide range of 12th Gen Intel Core processors (LGA1700) including Core i3-12100E/TE, i5-12500E/TE, i7-12700E/TE, and i9-12900E/TE, with optional 13th Gen support. The Intel W680 chipset provides enterprise-grade reliability with RAID support and PCIe Gen4 expansion. Processors are configurable with TDP options from 35W to 65W, balancing performance and thermal requirements.

Memory and Storage

The system features two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 64GB of 3200MHz memory with optional ECC for data integrity. Storage options include multiple M.2 2280 slots supporting SATA and PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe SSDs, with RAID 0/1 configuration available. An additional M.2 B-key slot supports 4G/5G cellular modules.

Networking and I/O

The Karbon 801 can be configured with up to six 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports (Intel I225-IT/LM), two of which can provide Power over Ethernet (PoE+) for powering cameras, sensors, or other devices. Front I/O includes 4x USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, 2x COM ports (RS-232/422/485), GPIO terminal block (DIO, CAN, switch), dual Micro-SIM slots, and 3.5mm audio. Rear I/O includes additional USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and dual DisplayPorts for up to 4 independent displays.

Expansion and Connectivity

Expansion options include M.2 E-key for Wi-Fi/BT modules, M.2 B-key for 5G/LTE, mPCIe for legacy devices, and PCIe slots via modular expansion options (K803/K804 variants). The system supports optional TPM 2.0 for hardware security.

The Karbon 801 accepts a wide 12-48V DC input via a 5-pin terminal block, suitable for mobile and industrial power systems. It operates reliably from -40°C to 70°C (35W CPU) or -40°C to 50°C (65W CPU) and has been tested to MIL-STD-810 shock and vibration standards.
