The MH70I from MEN Mikro Elektronik is a modular, application-ready Industrial PC built on CompactPCI and CompactPCI Serial architecture in a half 19" rack (40 HP) form factor. It is a build-to-order platform — processor, I/O, fieldbus interfaces, and storage are configured at order time to match specific process control or automation requirements. Two MH70I systems can be mounted side by side in a single 19" rack slot.

The MH70I provides 9 individually configurable slots: 2 CompactPCI peripheral, 2 CompactPCI Serial peripheral, 2 PCI/PCIe (or additional CompactPCI Serial), 1 CompactPCI PlusIO system slot, and 2 PSU slots. I/O expansion via M-Modules covers binary and analogue process signals, motion counters, and serial communication. Fieldbus support includes CANopen, DeviceNet, and PROFIBUS (master and slave). Real-time Ethernet protocols — EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, POWERLINK, PROFINET, SERCOS, and Varan — are available through appropriate interface modules. Up to 8 additional RJ45 or fibre optic Ethernet ports can be added via CompactPCI Serial slots. Storage options include SATA RAID with up to 4 hot-swappable HDD shuttles.

What environmental and industry certifications apply to the MH70I?

Designed for harsh, mission-critical, and safety-critical applications, the MH70I supports both fanless natural convection cooling and optional forced-air cooling via an orientation-independent fan tray. Redundant dual power supply slots accept AC, DC, or UPS input modules, maintaining operation as long as at least one external voltage source is present. The system is manufactured under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified processes and meets EN 9100 (aerospace) and IRIS (railway) quality standards. It can serve as the computing platform within SIL 4 / DAL-A certified safety systems when combined with MEN's safe computer components. The CPU board provides front-panel access to VGA, 2× USB 2.0, and 2× Gigabit Ethernet, with Windows Embedded Standard 7 pre-installed with all drivers.
