Product Description
The Saia PCD3.T66x series redefines the role of remote I/O in distributed automation. Moving beyond the traditional client-server model where a remote station is a passive slave, the PCD3.T66x operates as a true Smart Automation Station. This intelligence is rooted in its ability to execute user programs independently, managed centrally by a PCDx.Mxxxx Smart Automation Manager. This architectural shift from "dumb" remote I/O to "smart" programmable nodes is the cornerstone of the lean automation philosophy that Saia advocates, delivering significant reductions in engineering complexity, commissioning time, and lifecycle service costs.
The PCD3.T66x is natively programmable via the Saia PG5 Controls Suite, leveraging the same software environment used for Saia's PCD1, PCD2, and PCD3 controllers. This means automation engineers can apply their existing skills and program libraries without modification. User programs, whether for local logic, pre-processing, or alarm handling, are centrally managed, version-controlled, and deployed by the Smart Automation Manager. This eliminates the error-prone and time-consuming process of managing individual station configurations. Data exchange between the Manager and RIO is orchestrated via the highly efficient Ether-S-IO protocol, which is configured in PG5 with minimal mouse clicks and executed autonomously by the system's operating system.
Hardware flexibility is a cornerstone of the PCD3 platform. Each PCD3.T66x station can be expanded with a wide array of standard PCD3 I/O modules to accommodate up to 256 I/O points per station. These modules include digital and analog I/O, temperature measurement, high-speed counters, and motion control interfaces, ensuring the system can be precisely tailored to the specific requirements of any machine or process. The controller features a built-in web server, a standard inclusion across all Saia PCD3 RIOs at no extra cost, which provides universal, browser-based access for commissioning, support, and visualization of process data, images, and technical documentation.
Designed for industrial environments, the PCD3.T66x operates on a standard 24 VDC supply and is housed in a robust, DIN-rail mountable enclosure conforming to EN60715 standards, with an IP20 protection rating and UL 94 V0 flame resistance. It operates reliably within a temperature range of 0 to +55 °C in standard vertical mounting configurations. Beyond Ethernet, the device supports the S-Bus protocol on its serial interfaces (RS-232/485), enabling versatile connectivity with HMI panels, SCADA systems, and other devices. It complies with the rigorous EN/IEC 61131-2 standard for programmable controllers and carries CE marking. With its unique blend of distributed intelligence, seamless integration into the Saia PG5 ecosystem, and robust hardware, the PCD3.T66x series represents a future-proof solution for building scalable, efficient, and high-performance automation systems.
