Product Description
The IMO Precision Controls XBC-DR32H is a high-performance "H-Type" box PLC from the XGB series, designed to deliver exceptional processing power and integrated functionality for small to medium-scale automation applications. At its core, the controller features a high-speed CPU capable of executing instructions at a blistering 83 nanoseconds per step, supported by a 15k step program memory. This performance is further enhanced by on-board floating-point arithmetic, enabling the precise and efficient handling of complex mathematical calculations often required in advanced process and motion control. The PLC is programmable via the free XG5000/XG-PD configuration software using standard ladder diagram (LD) or instruction list (IL) languages, providing a familiar and accessible development environment for control engineers.
The XBC-DR32H provides a robust set of onboard I/O resources, including 16 optically isolated 24V DC digital inputs and 16 relay outputs, each capable of switching 2A resistive loads. This integrated I/O significantly reduces wiring complexity and panel space for many common applications. For larger or more complex systems, the controller's modular design allows for significant expansion. Up to 10 expansion modules can be added, including digital I/O, analog I/O (with 14-bit resolution), temperature input modules, and high-speed counter modules, extending the total I/O capacity to a maximum of 704 points. This flexibility ensures the XBC-DR32H can scale to meet the precise requirements of diverse automation tasks.
Communication is a cornerstone of the XBC-DR32H's design. The controller is equipped with a comprehensive suite of onboard ports, including RS-232C, dual-channel RS-485, and a USB port for programming and monitoring. The RS-485 interface supports a wide range of protocols, including Modbus ASCII/RTU, LS Electric's XGT dedicated protocol, and user-defined protocols, allowing for seamless integration with HMIs, SCADA systems, and third-party devices. Multidrop communication with up to 32 stations is supported, with configurable baud rates from 1200 to 115200 bps and a maximum transmission distance of 500 meters. For network connectivity, the XBC-DR32H supports Ethernet and Cnet I/F modules, enabling it to function as a node on larger industrial networks.
Beyond basic logic control, the XBC-DR32H integrates a powerful suite of advanced functions. A built-in PID controller supports up to 16 independent loops, making it suitable for precise temperature, pressure, and flow regulation in process applications. For motion-centric tasks, the controller includes high-speed counter inputs and a built-in positioning function, enabling direct control of stepper and servo drives without the need for specialized modules. Comprehensive self-diagnostic functions continuously monitor the system for scan time, memory, I/O, and power errors, maximizing uptime and simplifying troubleshooting. Data retention on power failure ensures that critical program variables and state information are preserved. With its combination of raw processing speed, flexible I/O, and rich integrated features, the IMO XBC-DR32H is an outstanding core controller for a wide range of industrial automation applications, including packaging machinery, material handling, small process control, and general machine automation.
