The 6SL3520-1XH60-3AF0 is the PROFINET-equipped variant of the smallest G115D in the range: 0.37 kW, 2.6 A, FSA fanless frame. It proves that fieldbus connectivity is not reserved for the high-power drives — even a drive running a 0.37 kW motor on a diverter or reject gate can be a first-class citizen on the TIA Portal network.

Why put PROFINET on a 0.37 kW drive?

The case for networking the smallest drives is not about speed-loop performance — it is about visibility. On a conveyor line with 100 drives, the one that fails first is often the least monitored one. A 0.37 kW drive buried under a conveyor side frame may run for years without anyone checking it — until it trips on overcurrent and stops the line. With PROFINET, the controller polls this drive alongside every other IO device on the network. The PLC knows its DC-link voltage, heatsink temperature, and fault status in real time. If motor current creeps up due to a stiff bearing on the driven roller, the trend is visible in the SCADA historian before the bearing seizes — and maintenance can schedule a replacement during the next planned downtime instead of reacting to an unplanned stop.

FSA fanless with fieldbus

Like its AA0 and AB0 FSA siblings, the AF0 variant is fanless — natural convection only, 250 mA at 24 V DC. The PROFINET interface does not change the power stage, the cooling, or the enclosure rating. What it adds is a single RJ45 port that eliminates the analog signal cable and gives the control system a window into the drive's health.
