Product Description
The Siemens 6SL3520-0XE07-5AA0 is the I/O Control variant at the 7.5 kW power ceiling of the SINAMICS G115D wall-mounted distributed drive family, carrying the XE07 XE0x sub-series designation. It communicates via discrete digital inputs and analog signals — no fieldbus, no AS-Interface module, no Ethernet port. For an engineer integrating a high-power conveyor drive into a PLC-controlled system with available I/O cards, this is the most direct and lowest-cost integration path available at 7.5 kW.
What distinguishes the AA0 I/O Control variant from AF0 and AB0?
The AA0 variant uses hardwired digital inputs (run/stop, direction, fixed speed selection) and an analog input (0–10 V or 4–20 mA for speed reference) instead of a fieldbus interface. A fail-safe digital input (F-DI) provides STO safety without requiring PROFIsafe. The advantage is simplicity: the drive responds to standard PLC digital and analog output cards — hardware that every control panel already has. The trade-off is that each signal requires a physical wire from the control cabinet to the drive. For a single 7.5 kW drive managing a critical conveyor section, this wiring overhead is manageable. For a 50-drive system, the wiring burden would favor AF0 or AB0.
When does I/O Control make sense at 7.5 kW?
The 7.5 kW FSC drive is typically deployed on the highest-value conveyor sections — merge units and incline conveyors — where there are fewer drives on the line and each one justifies individual wiring. With only a handful of 7.5 kW drives across an entire conveyor system, the wiring overhead of I/O Control is negligible. The benefit is that the drive requires no network configuration, no switch ports, and no fieldbus training — the electrician wires it like any other motor starter and the PLC programmer uses familiar digital/analog I/O addressing. For brownfield upgrades where existing cable trays already carry analog speed reference wiring to the motor location, the AA0 variant drops into the existing infrastructure without a network redesign.
