Product Description
The 3 kW G115D under its XE4 catalog code, hardwired and fanless: 7.7 A continuous, 15.4 A for 3 s, natural convection with no fan to service, IP65/66, with Enhanced I/O terminals, a fail-safe safety input and the 175 ohm braking resistor on board.
When does a 3 kW section need the fail-safe input?
The question is whether the section's emergency stop must reach the drive itself. On a small standalone section - a feeder, a short transfer - it is easy to argue the contactor upstream is enough, and for a section with no operators nearby that may be true. The moment a person works in reach of the section, the stop belongs inside the drive: the fail-safe digital input on the AB0 variant opens Safe Torque Off directly from the e-stop chain, with no safety network and no controller in the path. I/O Control has nowhere for that stop to land, and a safety requirement that arrives later means replacing the drive. At 7.7 A the section is small, but the rule that decides is about people, not power.
What does a hardwired 3 kW section run on?
The drive's own terminal set, which is richer than the section's needs. Start, stop, direction and the setpoint land on the four digital inputs; run feedback and the section sensors hang on the two bidirectional I/O terminals, and the sensor supply comes from the drive's switched 24 V - so the section needs no external power unit. The braking resistor integrated in the FSB takes the stop energy of short ramps, and the C2 filter keeps EMC hardware off the wiring. For a section that will never be networked, the whole control bill is terminals, and the fanless housing means the drive itself never comes due for maintenance.
