How is the safety controller configured?

Configuration is done through MSI.designer, a license-free software tool that connects via the controller's Mini USB port or Ethernet interface. Forty certified function modules are available — including emergency stop, light curtain, two-hand control, and muting — and up to 300 can be combined in a single project. The configuration is stored on a removable SD card (512 MB, sold separately) for easy transfer between controllers.

What communication protocols are built in?

Unlike safety controllers that require separate fieldbus gateways, the MSI 430-03 includes PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus TCP on the base unit. For additional protocols (PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, CANopen), external fieldbus gateways from the MSI-FB series can be connected.
