After building the logic diagram, MSD automatically calculates the safety performance metrics (PFHd, DCavg, MTTFd) for the complete safety function per ISO 13849-1, generates a compliance report suitable for CE marking technical files, and simulates the logic before downloading to the hardware. In stand-alone mode, the M1 controls up to four safety devices. With expansion modules, the system scales to 128 safety inputs and 16 OSSD output pairs — replacing 50+ individual safety relays in a complex multi-station assembly line or packaging hall. Fieldbus expansion modules (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, PROFINET, EtherCAT) transmit safety status to the machine PLC and receive non-safe commands.
