Product Description

Most RCCBs trip at 30 mA. That is the standard for general‑purpose socket outlet protection. But some circuits call for something more sensitive. The ABB F202 A-16/0.01 trips at just 10 mA, providing an extra margin of safety for people in high‑risk environments and for sensitive equipment that cannot tolerate even small leakage currents.

Where the 10 mA Sensitivity Matters
A 10 mA RCCB is often required for circuits in medical facilities (patient care areas), commercial kitchens, laboratories, IT server rooms, electric vehicle charging points, outdoor equipment, and swimming pool areas. The lower trip threshold provides additional protection against direct contact, though it also carries a higher risk of nuisance tripping from normal leakage in long cable runs or equipment with built‑in filters. For general socket outlets, 30 mA remains the standard; use 10 mA only where the application genuinely demands it.

Type A – Why This Matters
Type A detection is essential in modern installations. The F202 A-16/0.01 detects both sinusoidal AC fault currents (from resistive and inductive loads) and pulsating DC fault currents (from electronic equipment, rectifiers, VFDs, and switch‑mode power supplies). If you are protecting a circuit with computers, LED drivers, battery chargers, or appliances containing power electronics, a Type A device is the minimum requirement. Type AC (AC only) would not provide reliable protection.

Electrical and Mechanical Specifications
The F202 A-16/0.01 is a 2‑pole device (phase + neutral) rated for 16 A continuous current at 230/400 V AC. The 10 mA residual current sensitivity provides enhanced protection against direct contact. Short‑circuit withstand capacity is 10 kA when protected by an upstream gG 100 A fuse or a suitably rated MCB. Surge current withstand is 250 A (8/20 µs waveform). The test button operates between 100 V and 240 V AC. Operating temperature range is –25 °C to +55 °C. Terminals accept conductors up to 25 mm², torque 2.8 N·m.

Dimensions and Mounting
The device measures 85 mm in height, 69 mm in mounting depth, and occupies 35 mm width (2 modules) on a 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715. Weight is approximately 220 g. The housing is rated IP20 for terminal protection. Mounting orientation can be vertical or horizontal without affecting performance.

Coordination with Upstream Protection
An RCCB does not provide short‑circuit protection by itself. The F202 A-16/0.01 must be combined with an upstream MCB or fuse. For the 10 kA short‑circuit withstand rating to be valid, a gG 100 A fuse or an appropriately rated circuit breaker must be installed upstream. In practice, a 16 A MCB (B or C curve) is a common choice for a 16 A RCCB‑protected circuit.

Compliance and Origin
The F202 A-16/0.01 complies with DIN VDE 0664 Part 1 and EN 61008-2-1. Country of origin is Italy. RoHS compliant, SVHC‑free. EAN: 8012542782407.
